Rules

Management

The Thoroughbred Classic Horse Show (TCHS) Management reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to, arising from, or incident to the show without claims for damage or recourse of any kind. All questions or issues not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by TCHS Management and their decision shall be final. TCHS Management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries and cancel and award prizes without claim for damages; to change any posted course, to cancel or combine any unfilled classes or divisions, or to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors, to change or rotate judges, and/or to change specifications in classes to facilitate the time schedule or safety of rider and horse. Shall a protest be raised; TCHS Management shall at the conclusion of the class, hear the protest.

Conflicts

Riders and horses with conflicts (classes, rings, trainers, etc.) are responsible for and must arrange their order-of-go with the gate official so they do not hold up the class. If this has not been done at the start of any class, the rider may be considered a scratch. Starters may scratch riders without consultation with TCHS management.

Dogs

All dogs must either be crated or on a leash. No loose dogs/pets allowed anywhere on the premises. Owners of loose dogs will incur a $100 fine. You must clean-up after your pet.

Dressage Challenge

The Dressage Challenge class must be registered for, prior to the horse’s first test.

Dressage Entries and Ride Times

Entries will be accepted on a first-come basis and must include all fees, membership and horse registration proofs, signatures and payment. Exhibitor numbers will not be released until this process is complete; entries without payment in full may be returned. Withdrawing at any time will not excuse the responsible party from paying all of the applicable fees. Those who do not comply with this will be turned in to the recognizing authorities and no future entries will be accepted until the matter has been resolved.

Classes will be scheduled to accommodate the judges, riders and management. Rider scheduling preferences, if noted on the entry form will be indulged when possible. Every effort will be made to follow the “50 minutes between rides” rule. This rule will be observed for riders of multiple horses. Requests for specific break parameters and/ or ride times will be considered, but not guaranteed. Classes will not necessarily be scheduled in order of difficulty.

Helmets

All Thoroughbred Classic Horse Shows (TCHS) follow the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Helmet and Body Protector Rules. Riders must wear properly fastened protective headgear which meets or exceeds ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/ SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. It is compulsory for all persons when mounted anywhere on the competition grounds, to be wearing a helmet properly fitted, with harness secured.

It is the responsibility of the rider, or the parent or guardian or trainer of the junior exhibitor to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate safety standards for protective headgear intended for equestrian use, and is properly fitted and in good condition. The Federation, Show Committee, Show Management and Licensed Officials are not responsible for checking headgear worn for such compliance.

Horse’s Show Name

A horse may show under either its registered Jockey Club or horse show name. If known, we ask that you provide us with the registered Jockey Club name for your horse. If a horse’s show name is changed, TCHS must be notified within 10 days in order to keep a proper record of points.

Hunt Coats

It is the tradition of the competition ring that riders be correctly attired for the class in question, that attendants be neatly dressed, and horses be properly presented.

During hot weather, hunt coats will be deemed optional at the discretion of the judges and TCHS management. During extreme heat conditions, the removal of hunt coats may be mandatory at the discretion of TCHS Management.

Liability Release

Every horse and rider attending the show must have a signed liability release on file in the horse show office prior to riding his or her horse. This includes schooling only.

Longeing

Longeing is not allowed in show rings and only allowed in designated areas.

Schooling

All horses will be assessed a $50 office fee which includes access to schooling in the show rings the day before the first day of the horse show. No horse may school without an exhibitor number clearly displayed at all times. To ensure the safety of riders and horses, the number of horses in any schooling area at any given time, will be at the discretion of TCHS management. On schooling day, the schooling of horses will be allowed for a specified time TBD by show management.

During the horse show, schooling in a ring at the conclusion of the last class will depend on the time of day, and is not guaranteed.
