Announcing the Thoroughbred Classic Horse Show (TCHS) Reimagined – TCHS Partners with the Michael Nyuis Foundation for the MNF Charity Horse Show & Christmas Market: Featuring the Thoroughbred Classic this December 2024
Los Angeles, CA – The California Retirement Management Account (CARMA), a nonprofit charity dedicated to supporting retired Thoroughbred racehorses by providing funding for aftercare facilities, is proud to announce that this year its annual holiday event, the Thoroughbred Classic Horse Show (TCHS), will be partnering with the Michael Nyuis Foundation (MNF) to present the MNF Charity Horse Show & Christmas Market: Featuring the Thoroughbred Classic December 5-8, 2024 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank.
Proceeds from the show supports funding for two non-profit organizations: CARMA and the Michael Nyuis Foundation.
Since its inception, TCHS has been a showcase for Thoroughbreds to shine beyond the racetrack. This partnership with the MNF continues the beloved classes and incentives from the original TCHS and expands the show’s impact and reach. Participants can look forward to the same competitive spirit and community atmosphere, which includes the return of the popular decorating contest for horses, dogs, and barns, adding a festive flair to the competition.
The reimagined TCHS expands its scope beyond the show ring. This year, it will also provide a dynamic platform for nineteen teenagers, the MNF Grant Recipients, who will take the lead in managing the inaugural MNF Charity Horse Show. This initiative offers invaluable educational opportunities and hands-on experiences, preparing these young equestrians to become the next generation of leaders in the horse industry.
These young riders will be planning and running the show, with oversight from the West Palms Events Team. Zacko Hardin and Madeline Ang are the co-managers, and Enaya Caroll is the head of the show office. The MNF Grant Recipients will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn the ins and outs of event management behind the scenes.
As the holiday spirit gallops into town, get excited for an event that promises a fusion of top equestrian sport and holiday fun. Hosted against the picturesque backdrop of Griffith Park, the show will bring together community members, horse enthusiasts, and holiday shoppers.
Join us on Friday, the 6th of December, to watch the Jockey Team Jumping as current and former jockeys test their skills over the show-jumping course! The excitement continues on Saturday, December 7th, highlighting the Grand Prix followed by the MNF Benefit, including a silent auction, karaoke, and festive entertainment.
From thrilling competitions to a holiday market, exhibitors and spectators alike are guaranteed an unforgettable experience and entertainment for the whole family.
Don’t miss your chance to experience the magic of the holiday season while supporting a great cause. Entries will be tax-deductible and paid to the Michael Nyuis Foundation. Stay tuned for the Prize List and Entry Information coming soon on thoroughbredclassic.org!
About CARMA:
CARMA (California Retirement Management Account) is a charitable 501 (c)(3) organization formed to assist Thoroughbred rehabilitation and retirement organizations that facilitate the care and retraining of horses who raced in California and whose racing careers have ended. CARMA ensures that racehorses have retirement options by managing and disbursing funds to qualified retirement facilities caring for such horses.
About the MNF Foundation:
The Michael Nyuis Foundation grants offer support for young riders who have the passion and drive to compete, but lack the resources to do so consistently year-round. The program provides grants to riders at multiple levels, from entry-level to high performance. The program aims to have riders at different levels gain access to the sport. Recipients are selected based on financial need, commitment, and dedication to the sport.
Competitive young riders aged 14 – 25 are encouraged to apply for one of the approximately twelve Grants that are awarded annually.
